We are into colour variations now with this little gem being a variation on a badge i already own and i blogged HERE. This one includes an intact pin this time. Made by Jewellery Metal co of Dublin. I varies from the other badge in that the hat and sky colours are changed.
With my Ayr collection woefully thin on the ground this is a welcome addition to the fold. I is one of several colour variations for that year with this one being the yellow and blue version. This one was made by The Jewellery Metal Co of Dublin.
This lovely badge depicts a happy child skipping to the sea and depicts everything that makes the seaside great. This one, I think, is rather interesting as a badge. Artistic appeal aside (and it does something for me but I'm not sure what) it is a very interesting and bold attempt to change the style to a more physical rather then visual one. The badge itself is pressed with curves and flourishes and consists of just 2 colours. If they were a little bolder i would love this badge but the orange and yellow is insipid and does nothing to enhance the brave shapsing. It’s a shame really as with a colour variation such as the rich reds and yellows used to such effect on Bognor 1966 it would be wonderful. This one was made by the Jewellery Co of Dublin.
A double bonus on today's blog entry. This is a 1960 Ireland badge, my only badge from Ireland and as I found out one I hadn’t logged on my “Big list o’ badges”. Ireland seems to be oddly rare in the world of Butlins, odd because it seems to have been a popular camp with lots of colour variation in the latter years. Maybe I should start trawling ebay.ie? This badge was produced (aptly enough) by the Jewellery Metal Co. of Dublin.
First of a mixed bunch here. This is the Skegness 1952 badge. To the best of my knoledge there were 4 colour variations this year and this was one of the less common. It is fairly poor in condition but is better then none.
The pin housing on the back is bent but otherwise intact. Overall a nice addition. Not the cream of my crop but certainly not the chaff, if I am right about the rarity of the colours it may even be a steal. Maker was Jewellery Metal Co of Dublin and this is stamped on the back.
