Clacton 1966

Showing a seagull on a blue field this a nice simple badge that works well by breaking the edges of the frame. Made by Reeves this badge is in good condition but sadly the clasp has been squashed.

Skegness 1963

Continuing the run for Skegness is this nice rectangular pin depicting the jolly fisherman. Made by Reeves and Co of Birmingham.

Yes its true. I am NOT dead. Simply resting.

I am reaching a tricky stage in collection where I have picked up the common stuff and, bar the odd one or two, am now finding myself looking at pricier pieces. That isn’t likely to happen with my current income though.

Anyway here is a straggler from Skegness.

This one was made by W.Reeves of Birmingham and is stamped as such.

Filey 1965

Todays  offering is a Reeves made badge from 1965. This one from Filey has a simple rose motif but is effective nonetheless. It has survived the years in excellent condition.

Skegness 1960

For this one it is Skeggys Jolly Fisherman skipping gaily across the beach The breakout on this is his pennant. This badge was made by Reeves and Co.

Skegness 1965

An addition to the Skeggy collection today with this depiction of the towns Jolly Sailor, simply depicted in yellow red and blue the badge uses the pennant at the top to break the frame. In great condition this one was made by Reeves and Co. and is stamped as such.

Filey 1961

A simple circular badge this one depicting a red rose in a yellow border. Simple but nice nonetheless. Reeves and Co. manufactured.

Clacton 1949

Another fiddle to my Clacton bow this badge accompanied a mistaken purchase of a second Clacton 1946 badge. 2 is better then none i suppose. This one has several colour variations but is particularly striking by its design. Made by  Reeves and Co. This is also my first badge from 1949.

Filey 1959

My first acquisition for some time, this is my new Filey 1959 badge. A two colour badge it is effectively rendered in faux 3D and fairly successful if not a little dull. The badge was made by Reeves and co.

Pwllheli 1964

Staying with the dragon motif for the Welsh resort this is another excellent badge with a particularly mean looking Welsh Red! Made by Reeves.

2nd Week (Binoculars)

Another second week badge this one is a yellow and blur circular badge with a binocular style motif on it. This one also was made by Reeves.

Pwllheli 1963

What better then the Welsh dragon for this tidy little badge. This one was made by Reeves.

2nd week (kite)

Another 2nd Week badge, this one is in the shape of a kite and is two coloured. Effective and well presented. This badge was made by Reeves and Co.

Pwllheli 1948

Not the shiniest of badges this one but a really nice design and an absolute bargain for a 1948 badge clocking in at well under a fiver. A purchase I was very pleased with indeed. Made by Reeves.

Filey 1967

With a tried and tested rose design the Filey 1967 badge is extremely attractive. The red and orange colour scheme sparks particularly well, this was another recent acquisition to my collection and a very welcome one at that. This badge was made by Reeves and Co.

Bognor Regis 1960 - 1967

Here I present the full run of Bognor Regis badges (excluding variations and replicas) as you can see style varies wildly and three of the main makers of badges for Butlins all get a look in.

This by no means completes my collecting of the Bognor badges as I only have 8 of the 21 camp badges, none of the 11 Committee badges and 2 of the 8 known replica badges. Collecting continues.

Skegness 1961

1961’s badge was made by reeves and features the familiar Jolly Fisherman. In blue, yellow and red this one is in great condition. The face is actually silver but has become black with the reflection.

Bognor 1962

As promised here is the genuine article of a 1962 Bognor badge. Silver as opposed to the gold of the replica and with a two piece clasp. This one is stamped by the maker who is Reeves and the design is simple but effective. This particular badge is in fantastic condition.

Skegness 1959

I cant help but think that there must of been some kind of economy drive in force at Butlins in 1959 as this badge is absolutely tiny. Despite being just two colours however it is still a very nice piece and its dinkyness adds to its attraction.

The badge is in almost pristine condition and was made by Reeves of Birmingham.

Filey 1948

It’s rather sad to get enthused about a badge I know, especially one as tatty and distressed as this one but… well… look at it and tell me that it isn’t a thing of beauty.

Issued in 1948 this badge is a work of art and one that for me defines just why i collect these things. Art, often for under a tenner. This one is Reeves of Birmingham product and is stamped as such on the rear.

As a side note. I will attempt to continue daily updates on this blog but for some reason both Live Writer AND the blogger website are being sod in different ways. Hopefully it will resolve but I don't know what is up.
